Nepali migrants workers stranded in Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka

Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it has instructed the Nepali diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia to provide assistance to the Nepali migrant workers who are stranded in the Gulf kingdom after their employer company was liquidated and they were laid off. According to reports, as many as 60 Nepali men have been left high and dry in Riyadh for five months. MoFA said today it has instructed the Embassy of Nepali in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddha to extend assistance to the Nepali nationals that are affected by the layoff.
It further asked the Nepali nationals in Saudi Arabia that need assistance to contact the Nepali missions in Riyadh and Jeddah. Over 6,00,000 Nepalis work in Saudi Arabia, according to an estimate. Earlier today, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who has kept the portfolio of Foreign Ministry with him, had directed MoFA to rescue Nepali nationals stranded abroad.
